The SWBF  exist to raise funds to pay for new bolts to improve existing sport climbing places in South Wales and the Valleys. We work with British Mountaineering Council (BMC) to improve access and safety at crags.

Saftey First- Always remember that you are responsible for your own saftey and those around you when climbing outside, your not at the wall now. When your at a crag or route, if you don't like the look of it, give it a miss, there are no medals for winding up in hospital!

Access- If your asked to leave crag by the landowner, please respect thier wishes and report it to the BMC area officer. Just because climbs exist and are recorded there does not automatically give you  the right to use them. So remember,  park appropriatly and with consideration for others, don't leave litter and behave responsibly to prevent objections.

Find latest crags with upgraded bolts, cleaning and new route activity are in topos on our topo page.

Objective of the SWBF

The SWBF is a community  fund recently set up with the help of the BMC. Our aim is to promote sports climbing in South Wales by raising funds for re-equipment of old in-situ protection on crags designated for sports climbing under the terms of the current bolt policy.

If your fed up with clipping scrap metal or your eye sights not good enough to see the next bolt get involved. Currently there is barely sufficient funds to buy a bag of chips so we are looking for individuals prepared to volunteer as fundraisers in the following initiatives and dream up new ideas for improving our sports crags.

In the meantime you can reach us at  at our e-mail address: . We are looking forward to hearing from you. Please contact us with suggestions of crags/routes which require TLC on the bolt front, also we need feedback on work already done and of course volunteers to do the work.

Donations can be made by cheque to the treasurer or by collection jars (see contacts) or with PAYPAL, see links page...
