Re-bolting work by SWBF

Since the founding of SWBF in 2008, a handful of volunteers have been installing new bolts to replace old ones across the region, paid for primarily by your support of the fund. The bolt fund has contributed to the re-bolting of key crags all over South Wales. The following areas have benefited so far (see map):

South East Wales

Mountain Ash, Cwmaman, Taff's Well West, Gelli, Glynfach, Llanbradach Quarry.

Ogmore, Bridgend, Neath area

Dinas Rock, Witches Point, Castle Upon Alun.

Gower

Foxhole, Oxwich, Pwll Du.

Fund raising activities

Fund raising work in aid of SWBF has included raffles, climbing film nights at both Dynamic Rock Swansea climbing centre and Boulders Cardiff climbing centre, and collection tins at the BMC Gower Climbing Festival.

The SWBF has also received hundreds of bolts via the BMC's Better Bolts Campaign; see the BMC website for more information.

Several bolt workshops have been run by SWBF and the BMC, training local climbers in better bolting practices, and at the same time re-gearing local sport crags. Mountain Ash and Cwmaman have both had cleaning sessions and bolt workshops take place.
